Seeking one (1) FNFN Member Director 

The Council of the Fort Nelson First Nation is seeking an FNFN member committed to improving economic development outcomes for appointment to our growing economic development corporation’s governing body. 

The Board of Directors oversees the economic development entities and business interests owned by the Fort Nelson First Nation through the Deh Tai Limited Partnership including the Tu Deh Kah Geothermal Project, Eh Cho Dene, Dene Gravel Pits, hospitality businesses, forestry initiatives, and other initiatives under development. Directors are required to act in the best interest of the FNFN and have fiduciary responsibilities to both the shareholders and the limited partners, and to ensure transparency and accountability to the FNFN. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Understanding the organization’s mission, programs, policies, and needs 
  • Preparing for, attending, and participating in Board Meetings 
  • Approving audit reports, budgets, and business decisions 
  • Contributing to the development of policies and strategic plans 
  • Understanding financial and fiduciary obligations 
  • Ensuring compliance with legal requirements 
  • Maintaining confidentiality 

Required Qualifications: 

  • FNFN member over the age of 19 
  • Passionate commitment to improving outcomes for FNFN’s economic development interests 

Experience in one or more of the following areas are an asset: 

  • Professional leadership experience 
  • Financial management or strategic planning experience 
  • Previous Board experience 
  • Knowledge of the organization and/or relevant industries 
  • Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills 
  • Business ownership and/or upper management experience 

Compensation: provided on a per meeting basis
